Airlines and tour operators have begun canceling flights for March to the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico and Venezuela. reported on the website of the Association of Tour Operators (ATOR).
“In the booking systems of tour operators on the evening of February 27, tours for all dates, starting from February 28, to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Cuba, and Venezuela became unavailable. Searching for tours for March dates in booking systems shows no flights for the selected dates when trying to purchase a tour online.
The cancellation of flights to the Caribbean countries, in particular, was announced by AZUR air. According to a number of sources of ATOR Bulletin, Nordwind and Royal Flight will soon do this. From February 28, only export flights will be operated, the association reports.
The total number of Russian tourists who may be abroad, ATOR analysts estimate at more than 150 thousand, and in Europe, the Caribbean states, the United States and others, where there may be difficulties with returning home, over 27 thousand.
On Monday, a meeting will be held at the Ministry of Transport, at which, in particular, the export of Russians from closed countries will be discussed. “With a number of EU countries, agreements can be reached on the provision of special one-time corridors for the export of “humanitarian flights,” reports ATOR Vestnik.
