Al-Marsad newspaper: Psychology and mental health specialist Dr. Jamil Al-Hawas said that the main reasons behind kleptomania disorder go back to a complex in childhood, due to exposure to trauma and strict upbringing, as they negatively affect the child, making him vulnerable to this disorder, according to some scientific studies.
Al-Hawas explained, during the program “My Lady”, broadcast on the Gulf Rotana satellite channel, that the main point is impulse control disorder, explaining that it is an obsessive idea that comes to the individual who feels a very strong desire to steal, and this is due to a hormonal imbalance in the brain.
The specialist in psychology and mental health continued, that social aspects are also one of the reasons for this obsession, adding that this disorder is more prevalent in women than men, and in poor environments more than in rich ones, noting that the owners of knowledge are the lowest percentage of the uneducated, Also, the genetic or hereditary aspect has nothing to do with this disorder, so scientists have ruled it out.
