What exactly is the government talking about? From a “basic package” of 5,000 kWh of gas and 1,500 kWh of electricity to a favorable price. This will translate into a reduction of €135 in your monthly gas bill and €61 in your electricity bill, in November and December, the two months covered by the measure. We are close to 400 € in two months (392 €). For those who heat themselves with oil, more numerous in Wallonia, the check for €225 is increased to €300.

Is everyone entitled to these aids, regardless of their income? The government has set the following income limits: single people whose annual net taxable income does not exceed €62,000; couples whose annual net taxable income does not exceed €125,000. According to the Minister of Finance, this is equivalent to a net pocket salary of €3,000 per month for a single person and €5,000 per month for a couple (some experts rather mention €6,000 net, so there is obviously still a little blurry). This does not mean that you will not receive anything if you exceed these amounts, but the tax authorities will take back part of it through your future taxes.

We are talking again about temporary unemployment, right bridge. What does this mean exactly? The “temporary energy unemployment” scheme will be activated and modeled on the measure taken during Covid; workers will receive 70% of their capped remuneration (instead of 65%) and €6.10 per day of unemployment. A temporary bridge right will be granted to the self-employed who have to suspend their activity due to difficulties with their energy bill.
