Lee Geun, breakfast at a hotel in Poland? ‘It’s in western Ukraine’

[이데일리 정시내 기자] The news that former Captain Lee Geun, a YouTuber from the Navy Special Warfare Team (UDT/SEAL), who entered Ukraine to participate in the war as an international volunteer, was recently spotted at a hotel in Poland, is said to be fake news.

According to a weekly Chosun report on the 24th, an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “There is no news yet that a specific individual among Korean nationals has re-entered Poland.”

“If a Korean national re-enters Poland, our authorities can check it,” the official said.

A source from another government department also said, “It is fake news that (former Captain Lee) is in a hotel in downtown Poland.”

Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is said to have already obtained location information about the former Captain.

However, it is reported that if a specific person is named and given the location, problems such as violation of the Personal Information Act occur and the specific location is not disclosed.

A government official, who requested anonymity, said the former captain is currently staying at a hotel in a city in western Ukraine, close to Poland.

The area where Lee Geun is supposed to be is where mercenaries from all over the world are staying, and it is known that he was recently attacked by the Russian military.

Earlier, on the 22nd, the YouTube channel ‘Garosero Research Institute’ (hereafter Ka Se-yeon) conducted a broadcast that said, “I heard a report that Lee Geun was seen eating breakfast at a hotel in downtown Poland.”

Informant A explained that he was an exchange student in Poland and said, “I am currently staying in the same hotel as Lee Geun. He says that here he only shoots like war movies. He was worried about the amount of filming with his party.”

The truth of A’s claim has not been confirmed. Ga Se-yeon also revealed that she was still trying to contact A to confirm the authenticity.
