Al-Marsad Newspaper: A recent study revealed that losing the sense of smell may be a “warning sign” for Alzheimer’s disease in the future.
A study showed that those who carry the gene “APOE4” have a higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and losing the ability to smell, according to the American “Fox News” website.
The researchers noted that people with APOE4 were 37 percent less likely to detect odors than those without it.
It is worth noting that about 55 million people around the world suffer from Alzheimer’s disease, including about 6.7 million in the United States, and about 900 thousand others in the United Kingdom.
