Mallika Sarabhai Kalamandalam Chancellor; The government issued an order Kerala | Deshabhimani

Thiruvananthapuram > The state government has appointed world famous dancer and Padma Bhushan awardee Mallika Sarabhai as the Chancellor of Kalamandalam Kalpitha University. Mallika Sararabhai, who brought Indian Sasatriya dance to world fame, is famous in the fields of theatre, film and television, as well as as a writer, publisher and director.

Daughter of renowned dancer Mrinalini Sarabhai and astronaut Vikram Sarabhai, Mallika is a world-renowned dancer in Kuchupudi and Bharatanatyam. Mallika’s mother, Mrinalini, belongs to the northern clan of Palakkad Anakkara. Mallika was born in Gujarat in 1953. Studied at St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad. He holds an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and a doctorate from Gujarat University.

She has authored many authoritative books on Indian theater. She has won several awards including the Dance Soloist Award of the Theater de Champs Elysee in Paris, the Chevalier de Palms Academic Award of the French Government, the Pasta Theater Award and was shortlisted for the Nobel Prize in 2005. Culture Minister VN Vasavan said in a press conference that Mallika’s appointment is a reflection of the government’s vision that eminent, talented and talented people should come to head the universities and it will be most beneficial for the art of Kerala.
