More reliable and powerful surveys, with the new improvements

Deployed at the end of last year on WhatsApp, polls are a very practical statistical method which aims to assess the proportions of different characteristics of a population from the study of a part of the latter, called sample.

However, the option available to WhatsApp was basic and not very effective, which prompted the application to offer new options to improve performance and reliability. Thus, on a blog post, 3 improvements were unveiled, the first concerns single-vote polls: the poll creator can now ask members to vote only once, disabling multiple votes.

To do this, simply deactivate the “Allow multiple responses” option when configuring the survey. Thus, respondents will only be able to select one answer from the choices offered.

A notification will thus be sent to the user for each new contribution to a poll, to allow easy research in all the polls as is already the case for photos or videos.

As for the second improvement, it involves searching for polls within a discussion. With the new update, users will be able to easily find the poll in a family chat, even with 300 new messages already sent.

No need to “scroll” for 5 minutes, because now it will be possible to use the search function integrated into WhatsApp to find the poll in question in an efficient and fast way.

Just go to the “Discussions” tab, and click on the search bar, then select “Polls”. Thus, all the polls carried out within the various discussions will be accessible.

Then finally comes the third and last option which concerns the sending of notifications with each response to the survey. To facilitate the follow-up of the results, the user will now receive a notification each time a person answers their survey. He will also be able to access the total number of votes, via the details of the poll.

Finally, it is specified that these new features have begun to be deployed worldwide and will soon be available to all users in the coming weeks.
