Yulia Navalnaya in a statement today said that Vladimir Putin is not the legitimate president of Russia, as the official election results have no meaning.
“We proved to ourselves and others that Mr Putin he is not our president. We didn’t elect him,” she said Navalnaya referring to the protest demonstrations called “Noon Against Putin” which took place on the last day of the presidential election on 17 March.
According to the protothema, on the last day of the election, the opposition in Russia called for peaceful but symbolic political protest against the re-election of President Vladimir Putin.
Thousands of people showed up at polling stations across Russia as part of the Noon Against Putin campaign. Russians opposed to Putin went to their local polling stations that afternoon either to cast invalid ballots in protest or to vote for one of the three other candidates against Putin, who was nonetheless re-elected as the country’s president.
