Catholic leaders, Pope Francisstill in critical condition. Pope Francis Called in a conscious condition but suffers from breathing attacks so that it requires high oxygen flow and blood transfusion.
“The condition of the Holy Father is still critical, therefore, as explained yesterday, the Pope has not fully recovered,” said the Vatican in its routine update in the afternoon, reported by AFP, Sunday (2/23/2025).
“This morning Pope Francis experienced a prolonged asthma breathing crisis, which also needed high oxygen giving,” he said.

Pope Francis was diagoned with double pneumonia. Daily blood test results show platelets.
“Demonstrate thrombocytopenia, which is associated with anemia, which requires giving blood transfusion,” he added.
“The Holy Father remains alert and spends the day in a lazy chair even though he suffers more than yesterday,” he continued
The previous Vatican confirmed that the Argentine Pope would not convey the weekly Angelus prayer as usual on Sunday, saying that the text would be published, as was done last weekend.

Archyde News: Dr. Rossi, thank you for taking the time to speak with us today. Could you provide an update on Pope Francis’ current condition?
Archyde: We understand that the Pope has been diagnosed with double pneumonia. Can you tell us more about this and how it’s being treated?
Dr. Rossi: “Yes, he has indeed been diagnosed with double pneumonia. Our medical team is closely monitoring his vital signs and administering appropriate medication. Blood transfusions have been necessary due to thrombocytopenia, which is a low platelet count associated with anemia.”
Archyde: It’s been reported that the Pope has been spending time in a lazy chair. How is his mobility and spirits during this challenging period?
Dr. Rossi: “The Holy father has been making efforts to move around more, but he remains largely bedridden for now.Despite his discomfort, he remains strong-willed and maintains his sense of humor, which is a testament to his resilience.”

Archyde: Lastly, Dr. Rossi, what can we expect in terms of the Papal schedule in the coming days? Will the Pope be delivering the weekly angelus prayer as usual?
Dr. Rossi: “We would like to convey that the weekly Angelus prayer message will continue to be published, as has been done recently. However, due to the Pope’s ongoing recovery, no definite timeline for his return to public engagements can be provided at this moment.We will continue to keep you updated on his status.”
