Pratap Home Transforms Menswear Textile Techniques into Home Decor

Designer Rajesh Pratap Singh has expanded his signature textile-focused aesthetic into the home space with the launch of PRATAP HOME. The collection translates his menswear-inspired precision into home decor, utilizing the same refined techniques and fabrics that have defined his fashion work over the years.

Crafts Complex Textiles from Fine Cottons and Wools

At the core of the new line is an emphasis on craft, featuring a diverse range of materials including fine cottons, linens, and wools. The collection incorporates complex textile processes such as handwoven jacquards, dobby weaves, block prints, embroidery, pleating, and quilting. The items range from hand-quilted bedcovers, reversible dohars, and cushions to shams, table linens, window treatments, and rugs.

The designer has brought specific elements of his tailoring to the home, including his signature pintucks and selvedge lines. These details appear alongside white-on-white compositions, graphic contrasts, indigo-dyed textiles, and occasional flashes of fluorescent color. The pieces are designed to evoke the familiarity of his fashion collections without being a literal conversion of garments into home accessories.

Draws Heavy Influence from Menswear Shirting

The collection draws heavily from the designer’s background in menswear shirting. Lightweight dohars, crafted from fine 100-count cottons, utilize checks, stripes, and restrained geometrics to achieve a crisp, tailored character. Even traditional items like the Jaipuri razai have been re-imagined using lightweight cotton voile and precise quilting techniques to mirror the discipline of tailored cloth.

Much of the development and sampling for the collection occurs at the designer’s workshop in Faridabad, Haryana. According to the brand, it is this long-standing command over weaving, printing, and surface manipulation processes that provides the collection with its distinct identity, rather than the use of logos or recurring motifs.
