The Devils baseball squad of TV St. Ingbert has completed a comprehensive visual overhaul of the Ballpark Wallerfeld, transforming the facility’s functional structures into a cohesive mural gallery. Following a two-part workshop led by artist Thorben Sand, club members of all ages finalized designs across the park’s four main buildings, turning previously plain surfaces into a vibrant display of sports-themed artwork.
Transforming the Ballpark Infrastructure
The project focused on the site’s four primary structures: the home and guest dugouts, the softball dugout, and the scorer’s house. Participants utilized the available wall space to execute a variety of motifs, ranging from detailed depictions of baseball fields to stylized typography. At the guest dugout, individual paintings were integrated into a continuous comic-strip aesthetic, while the scorer’s house and home dugout now feature baseball-themed imagery and sport-specific terminology, such as “Home” and “Double play,” rendered in a rounded “bubblestyle.”
The softball dugout received a distinct color scheme, dominated by the yellow associated with softballs. The area includes the inscription “Soft-Ball,” signed by a participant identified as “Klein-Lotta.” Additionally, a tribute titled “Power Dome” was applied above the existing Devils lettering at the park’s former sales stand. While the workshop has concluded, the club plans to perform final touch-ups to refine the murals in the near future.
Participants Transform Structures into Unified Art Installation
The initiative was designed as an inclusive effort, open to both club members and external participants, with the goal of turning the structures—which were pre-painted in red by the club—into a unified art installation. Throughout the process, Sand provided professional guidance while encouraging the participants to develop their own concepts within the themes of baseball, softball, and the Devils organization. The first workshop unit took place on October 25, with internal members receiving priority for the limited spots over external participants, including children aged 10 and older. During the sessions, Sand maintained a supportive role, offering technical advice while the club members, ranging from youth to adult, took the lead on the physical application of the designs.

The Devils, who have operated the facility since converting the former Wallerfeld sports field into a baseball park in 2011, celebrated the project’s completion with their traditional “Devils go – Team!” cheer. The baseball department is an established partner of the “Integration through Sport” program, which also supports the club’s educational initiatives for sports professionals.
