The candidates for the Presidency of the Republic will meet with girls, boys and young people from different regions of the country. Enrique Gómez, Federico Gutiérrez, Rodolfo Hernández, Sergio Fajardo, Ingrid Betancourt and John Milton Rodríguez attended the conversation.

During the pandemic the suicide rate increased, what strategies will you implement to provide mental health services?
Ingrid Betancourt: there are not enough psychiatrists for the general population. Teachers should be trained to identify risk factors, families trained and more doctors in the area of mental health.
John Milton Rodriguez: Family care centers should be created to identify and give priority to children in the country. He also spoke of a school feeding plan for the care of children.
Sergio Fajardo: do a university internship project for interns to work with boys and girls from schools.
Federico Gutierrez: psychologists are needed in each Educational Institution and the health system must respond to the issue of mental health.
Rodolfo Hernandez: work must be generated for fathers and mothers so that children can have a better development in life.
Enrique Gomez: a mental health care route is going to be made. The action of the State must be articulated and the mission of the institutions extended to articulate culture, education, health and prevention of addictions.
In Colombia, many families do not consume the three daily foods. Many five-year-olds suffer from chronic and acute malnutrition. What ideas do you have to offer access to everyday food and make it a balanced diet for children and adolescents?
Ingrid Betancourt: life begins in the womb and we must guarantee that mothers in a state of management can feed themselves well. School food is being stolen from all departments. The first enemy for food is corruption.
John Milton Rodriguez: have a nutrition plan by region. Each region has its own customs and these different circumstances must be respected.
Sergio Fajardo: Every pregnant woman needs to have a follow-up plan. In this process, women are raised about what it means to raise their children and feed them. Already at school, we have to look for food to be produced in each municipality so that there are jobs for families.
Federico Gutierrez: social gaps start from the moment of gestation and the mother must be accompanied. Once that baby is born, she must have all the guarantees of food security, access to psychophysical assistance and that the school feeding plan is balanced.
Rodolfo Hernandez: families must be able to feed prenatal nutrition because it is where the brain of the future citizen is being formed. Then comes the feeding from 0 to 1000 days, which is generally at home, aided by State programs, and this feeding must be taken away from the thieving politicians.
Enrique Gomez: our city halls are a failure and that the programs do not arrive opportunely and the mother is not educated to carry out her controls. The PAE is not delivered in a timely manner.
Other concerns for the candidates for the Casa de Nariño was regarding initial education and what guarantees would be implemented in this aspect for boys and girls between 0 and 5 years old.
Ingrid Betancourt: What Colombia has to try to achieve is a country where our children are happy and we should all contribute to that, from how we build our cities. In my Government we are going to carry out an educational campaign so that parents become empowered and understand that games and moments and their children can stimulate them.
John Milton Rodriguez: The State is inefficient in caring for children in Colombia. We are responsible for connectivity and teamwork with parents to guarantee all their rights at this stage.
Sergio Fajardo: That is one of the inequalities that we have been trying to work on in Colombia because before, children began to enter school from the age of 6. We promise that from 3-5 years all children in the country enter the school world.
Federico Gutierrez: three million children in coverage from 0 to 5 years old and also since the management period. Strengthen and train the accompaniment of mothers, not only in pedagogy but also in nutrition.
Rodolfo Hernandez: place officials who are responsible for the education of children. You have to put money, qualified teachers who really have a vocation for education and are concerned about how El Niño learns. Usually teachers teachers do not meet.
Enrique Gomez: We are not responsible because the Constitution gave that responsibility to the mayors. We propose a new party in which the guarantees are not given so that it is chosen well, because or else nothing can be changed. In these small municipalities we need professional municipal secretaries that the mayor cannot change every year.
How to reduce the rates of domestic violence that increased in the pandemic?
Ingrid Betancourt: We have to face domestic violence at all levels. You have to protect mom and dad. We are thinking of a house for women to protect them and empower teachers so that they can see what is happening and the neighbors so that they can give early warnings and teach children so that they know what their rights are.
– John Milton: implement the school for fathers and mothers, to integrate them with school environments and an early warning system to prevent.
How if he becomes President is he going to protect children from climate change?
Rodolfo Hernandez: The culture of protecting nature is born at home but this feeling can be increased at school. The best way to be able to have these happy children is for the mother and father to have jobs. We must reduce the amount of burning of fossil products and change them to solar energy and wind energy.
What would you do so that minors do not encourage crimes and if they did, how would you help them?
Sergio Fajardo: It is necessary to identify the world of young people who were left out of the school system. Have a program to know why each young person is there and with each one of them build a life project. Not only is it enough to work with the young person but also with the family and their community. Each one builds a route.
How are you going to guarantee safe spaces for children?
Enrique Gomez: the foot of force must be recovered and guarantee that criminals do not walk in the streets. In addition to the schools and parks being in good physical condition.
