To diversify its catalog, NCsoft imagines more modest games. The first of these, PuzzUp: Amitoi, will launch this September 26. The pre-registration campaign is open.

As part of a policy of diversifying its catalog aimed at integrating more modest games alongside its MMORPG

Acronym of the English expression “Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games”, meaning “massively multiplayer online role-playing games”. MMORPGs follow the same principles as MMOGs (see this term), including a concept of “role play”. In an MMORPG, the player is supposed to embody a character with a personality and play the role of the character in the virtual world. See also: MMOG, MMOFPS, UMMORPG

“> Major MMORPG, at the beginning of the year, NCsoft announced the puzzle game PuzzUp Amitoi. The Korean giant is now delivering the global launch date, set for next september 26 on Android and iOS mobile platforms, in eleven languages, including French.

Until then, NCsoft opens today a pre-registration campaign on the official website (translated in particular into French). Players who register before launch will receive a few bonuses, including a Skin

From the English word literally meaning “skin”. In the context of an MMOG, the term “skin” refers to the appearance of a character or the interface (customizable or not) of the game.

“> specific skin for his Amitoi – the small characters featured in the game.

PuzzUp, a match 3 game fabric

For the record, PuzzUp: Amitoi is presented as a casual type game match 3 game (the player must associate three similar objects to make them disappear from the board), but integrating some subtleties: the player can for example modify the direction of scrolling of the pieces to be assembled on the board (the pieces do not only fall from top to bottom , they can rise from bottom to top or from left to right and from right to left). To enrich the gaming experience and increase the lifespan of the title, each game also allows the player to earn stars which are used to improve their Amitoi (by unlocking special abilities that can be used in future games) or even a clan system inviting to play with other players or to organize tournaments between clans.

PuzzUp: Amitoi will therefore be available this September 26 and it will be NCsoft’s first foray into the casual games market, but probably not the last – alongside very ambitious, very expensive and requiring years of development (on the model of Throne and Liberty), the studio also intends to offer smaller games that are faster to design. After PuzzUpwe expect for example Battle Crush (sort of mini-game of Battle Royale round and colorful) or the Project G, a cross-platform strategy game. We imagine that PuzzUp will be the first test of this new strategy for NCsoft.
