Land Rover, Bentley, or even Rolls-Royce: Queen Elizabeth II loved beautiful vehicles. It was not uncommon to see her driving one of her many cars. AD recalls today that the deceased was authorized not to respect a very important rule on the road.
As they are issued in her name, Elizabeth II was the only British road user who was not legally required to have a driving licence. Ditto for the exam, which she didn’t even need to pass!
Besides this exception, the Queen could drive without license plates, or even travel without a passport.
