Remembering Robbie Robertson: The Legacy of The Band Founder and Rock Icon

One of the founders of the influential Canadian group The Band, Robbie Robertsonhas left us at the age of 80 and the world of rock mourns his death through heartfelt messages published on the networks of musicians from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks o Whitesnake among others.

As reported Daily Mail among other means, Robertson has passed away in Los Angeles, after a long battle against prostate cancer. The guitarist’s manager, Jared Levinehas been in charge of confirming the death, which occurred last Wednesday, August 9, through the statement published by the musician’s family: “Robbie was surrounded by his family at the time of his death, including his wife, Janet, his ex-wife, Dominique, and her partner, Nicholas, and their children Alexandra, Sebastian, and Delphine and their partner, Kenny. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Angelica, Donovan, Dominic, Gabriel and Seraphina.

Robertson had just finished his fourteenth film score project with regular collaborator Martin Scorsese, “Killers of the Flower Moon.” In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Six Nations of the Great River to support the construction of their new cultural center.”
