Austria’s Davis Cup team competes in the international match against Pakistan with Jurij Rodionov, debutant Filip Misolic and the doubles Alexander Erler/Lukas Miedler. ÖTV captain Jürgen Melzer nominated this quartet for the draw that took place on Thursday in the Tulln town hall.
The play-off game will open on Friday (12:45 p.m., live on ORF Sport +) between Rodionov and Muhammad Shoaib, after which Misolic will play against Pakistani number one, Muzammil Murtaza.
After the 3-1 defeat by South Korea in Seoul in March, Austria’s side are now fighting relegation but are big favourites. Two singles will be played on Friday and Saturday (from 11:00 a.m.), first doubles and then two singles. The winner of the international match advances to the qualifying round in early February 2023 and has a chance to advance to the lucrative final round.
