Informed sources told Al-Akhbar newspaper that the breach of political silence was launched by former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt yesterday through the newspaper “L’Orient-Le Jour”, which was characterized by a tone of protest against Saudi Arabia, as he practically held it responsible for the obstruction, saying: “Let Saudi Arabia explain to us what it wants.” Because things have become blatant and unacceptable. Someone is playing with the Lebanese! “This is what fuels the ridiculous theories of those who want a vacuum.” He attributed his knowledge months ago that its ambassador in Beirut, Walid al-Bukhari, was the one behind the position of a number of forces and pushing them to escalate, and he was asking the forces and battalions to raise the ceiling and escalate against any initiative, as happened with the call. Jean-Yves Le Drian (the French envoy) and President Nabih Berri to the dialogue.

The sources revealed that “Jumblatt, like other political forces, knew that the French initiative had been dropped, and that Paris was not able to convince the rest of the members of the quintet to continue in this role, and that it was captive to the local positions behind which external parties stood,” noting that Le Drian’s return next month would be formal. All that will follow is pressure for elections in accordance with the decisions of the recent Doha statement, which means that the country is on the verge of a new wave of escalation.
