Anthony Scaramucci claims that if President Donald Trump proceeds with a proposed summit alongside Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and China’s Xi Jinping, it will spell the complete end of the Republican Party, according to The Daily Beast.
Putin Seeks Summit to End Ukraine War
The controversy centers on a potential Yalta-style superpower meeting slated for November, discussed during an October 9 phone call between Trump and Putin. According to reporting from The Wall Street Journal cited by The Daily Beast, Putin plans to use the summit to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine that favors the Kremlin. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would reportedly be excluded from the talks.
When asked about the prospective meeting, Trump defended his diplomatic approach. “Anything I can do to end the war, whether somebody’s there or not, whatever I can do to end the war,” Trump said regarding the conflict, which was launched by Putin nearly five years ago.
Scaramucci drew a direct historical parallel on social media, noting that Ukraine surrendered the world’s third-largest nuclear arsenal under the 1994 Budapest Memorandum upon America’s word, a bargain Trump is now treating as if it never existed, Yahoo reported. Scaramucci argued that by walking away from that historical commitment to appease Putin, the administration demonstrates whose side it takes when a democracy and a dictator collide.

Trump Waives Russia Sanctions After Graham Death
Relations between Trump and Moscow have grown visibly warmer in recent weeks, a shift that has intensified following the death of Lindsey Graham, who was recognized as the GOP’s fiercest Russia hawk. Just last week, Trump quietly signed an executive order late on a Friday waiving key sanctions on Russia under the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act just two days before they were scheduled to take effect, as detailed by both The Daily Beast and Yahoo.
This policy pivot follows Trump’s earlier decision to import Russian diesel. That move aimed to ease the global oil crisis sparked by his war against Iran, which drove U.S. gasoline and diesel prices significantly higher.
Appearing on The 1600 podcast, Scaramucci asserted that Trump has been compromised by Putin, stating that the president executes a checklist of foreign policy objectives that directly benefit Moscow. Scaramucci highlighted actions including the withdrawal from the Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty, proposed troop reductions in Western Europe, and tensions over NATO commitments.

The Tombstone Warning for the GOP
Scaramucci argued that participating in the upcoming summit with Putin and Xi would cross a final threshold for traditional conservatives. He declared the traditional Republican platform defunct, telling The Daily Beast, “The Cheney, Bush, Romney, Reagan, Eisenhower Party dead, stick a fork in it.”
He added a stark political warning regarding the potential fallout within the party: “If that meeting were to happen, that would be then I would tell you that the Republican Party is completely dead. We’d probably have to get a tombstone out. And you tell me the date of that meeting, and I will chisel it into the tombstone.”
A spokesperson for the White House did not immediately respond to questions from The Daily Beast regarding Scaramucci’s claims or the status of the planned summit.
