A Disastrous Departure from Mashhad Airport
The aircraft was originally scheduled to fly a domestic route from Mashhad to Kermanshah. The sudden mechanical rupture forced the flight crew to abandon the itinerary and immediately request an emergency return to Mashhad Airport.
As the crippled jet began its descent back toward the runway, the situation inside the cabin deteriorated rapidly. Video footage captured by travelers shows the fuselage violently trembling while passengers grip headrests in front of them. The physical stress of the descent proved too much for the aircraft’s interior fixtures. Sections of the cabin ceiling suddenly broke loose and crashed onto the travelers seated below, exposing the raw wiring and metal framework of the aircraft.
Panic in the Cabin and Safe Evacuation
With chunks of debris raining down, panic erupted inside the Boeing 737. Screams intensified as passengers realized the ceiling was actively giving way above them. Some flyers frantically reached their arms upward to shield themselves from the falling panels, while others shouted repeated prayers.

Despite the harrowing scenes captured on mobile devices, aviation authorities confirmed that none of the passengers or crew members sustained injuries during the incident. Once the aircraft touched down safely on the tarmac, emergency crews managed to evacuate everyone on board without further incident. Mashhad Airport officials temporarily closed the affected runway to allow inspectors to examine the debris and clear the tarmac.
Mounting Scrutiny on Sepehran Airlines
The Iran Civil Aviation Organization is continuing to investigate the incident.
