Storms to watch
The cold front that accompanies a depression could create uplift, generating a climate of instability. Plus, the profuse heat and humidity ahead of the front will fuel these storm cells, kicking the potential up a notch.
Moderate risk
The conditions are therefore conducive to the formation of violent storms throughout the territory. All of southern Quebec, from the Outaouais to the North Shore, could hear thunder rumbling. Strong cells could wreak havoc, especially in the afternoon and evening. In the center of the province, there is a higher risk of rotation.
Severe thunderstorms
Strong gusts are expected, especially when thunderstorms pass. Supercells could form and generate rotation. Heavy rain is also possible: the well-established presence of humidity in the air could increase precipitation. A risk of aquaplaning cannot be ruled out. Caution will therefore be required, especially when driving large vehicles and moving trucks.
The probability of lightning is high, especially in the center of the province, this Friday afternoon. From Friday evening, the system will evolve with the passage of a cold front and will thus create an uplift.
