An SMS message about a call for mobilization will not be a summons. About it declared Andrey Kartapolov, Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee.
“SMS is not an agenda, it’s just a notification that the agenda has been formed,” the deputy clarified on the air of the TV channel RBC. He noted that if a person does not receive a message, then no sanctions will be applied to him.
According to him, SMS will simplify the very notification of the agenda, so that citizens are comfortable and they have all the information in full. Kartapolov asked not to be afraid of these innovations.
What exactly will be contained in the SMS notification has not yet been decided. “Dear Ivan Ivanovich, an agenda has been formed for you in the register of those liable for military service, please read it at the State Services,” the head of the committee voiced an approximate text.
On June 5, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation prepared a draft resolution, according to which Russians will be notified of the call for mobilization via SMS. The message will be sent to the number indicated on the portal “Gosuslugi”. The explanatory note to the draft resolution says that the proposed changes will reduce the time for notifying citizens about mobilization and improve its quality.
On April 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that involves the digitalization of the military registration system and amends the rules for serving subpoenas. Now summons to those liable for military service will be sent in writing and duplicated in electronic form at the State Services.
