This Airbnb customer didn’t expect that the house he rented for his vacation would have such a list of allowed and prohibited things… it specifically specified when to use the items and how many glasses he could drink from!
The rules were displayed in the accommodation with an evocative title: “The rules of the kitchen”. He shared a photo of his discovery on Reddit.
Thus, he was only allowed to use one dish and one glass per meal. He could not use the dishwasher for the glasses but only wash them by hand, nor could he run the dishwasher whenever he wanted but at specific times. He couldn’t keep food in his fridge for more than 16 hours. he could drink tap water but “at his own risk…”.
There was also the instruction not to “bend the spoons” because “spoons are intended to be used as utensils only.” We can imagine the past of this host who had to find rules to protect himself from any type of behavior towards his belongings…
On Reddit, comments quickly poured in: “I wouldn’t feel comfortable in this house. I feel like you would be on alert all the time.” Another writes: “Some rules make no sense. This must be a joke. Plus, how would they know if you’ve kept food in the fridge for more than 16 hours? And what’s the point of having a refrigerator if you can’t store food in it? It’s a bit like the reason for a refrigerator”…
