The repeatedly criticized Millennium Schools Project is collapsing into schools. As promised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, the first funding will reach the selected schools soon, by mid-May. At the end of April, the progress plans of 22 municipalities of the first flow, their financing, were approved. Over 109 million will be allocated to these municipalities. euros, they are intended for 93 schools, some of them participate in the program after having focused and prepared one progress plan.

The Millennium School Program initiated by the Ministry envisages providing support to 271 schools selected by the municipalities and meeting the established criteria until the middle of 2026. In total, 58 out of 60 municipalities are participating in the project in both stages. The municipalities of Pagėgiai and Neringa do not participate in the program.

“This is not a template program. This is a program whose activities are adapted to the problems of each municipality,” said Minister Jurgita Šiugždinienė.

In both streams, 270 schools should participate in the program – both primary, pro-gymnasium, and gymnasium. Only the salaries of the employees of the European Social Fund Agency (hereinafter referred to as ESFA) directly working in the project are financed with the funds of the TŪM program.

“Neither the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, nor the National Education Agency’s employees who provide information to the employees of the MEC project or otherwise contribute to the publicity or activities of the MEC program, are paid for their working hours with the funds of the MEC program,” the ministry says.

17 employees (14 full-time positions) work in the TűM project. In addition, 12 more full-time experts were employed to perform short-term functions.

According to the Ministry of Education and Culture, the work of the TŪM project team is consulting municipalities, preparing progress and investment plans, and program funds will be allocated for their implementation. There will be ten millennium schools in Vilnius
