Torreense has officially confirmed the departure of Luis Tralhão just five months after he led the club to a Taça de Portugal victory. The Liga 2 side announced the coaching change on Thursday, identifying João Nuno as the successor.
The parting comes despite Tralhão securing the cup trophy in May. In an official statement released by the club, management acknowledged the outgoing coach’s impact, stating that Luis Tralhão stood out for the way he interpreted the Torreense Process, earning by his own merit a unique place in the centennial history of this club.
The club statement added: Torreense thanks Luis Tralhão for the professionalism, dedication and passion with which he embraced this project, wishing him the greatest luck for his future, both in personal and professional terms.
From Under-23 Success to Cup Glory
Tralhão took over the first team in January after previously managing the club’s under-23 squad. During his tenure with the youth side, he guided them to the Liga Next Gen 2024/25 title before stepping up to succeed Vítor Martins.

His promotion yielded immediate dividends when he steered Torreense to their Taça de Portugal triumph. The squad also reached the promotion play-off for the top tier, though they ultimately lost that series to Casa Pia.
Recognizing his achievements, the board rewarded Tralhão over the summer by extending his contract through 2028. However, five months after the cup victory he is dismissed.
League Standing and Coaching Transition
Although Torreense secured a victory in their most recent fixture against Amarante, the team currently sits 13th in the Liga 2 standings. That domestic positioning prompted leadership to cut ties with the manager less than half a year after his crowning achievement.
Incoming manager João Nuno steps into the role immediately.
