Beginning October 29 and running through December 17, 2026, the Italian television network Tv2000 is launching a special Thursday night cinematic lineup titled “Affari di famiglia,” featuring eight films dedicated to exploring the complex, fragile, and often challenging realities of domestic life. Airing weekly at 21.10, the curated broadcast examines family bonds through various lenses, including parent-child relationships, severe illness, grief, and the difficult road toward second chances.
The network’s schedule brings together an international selection of dramas, kicking off on October 29 with Peter Hedges’s Ben Is Back. The film stars Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges in a tense, twenty-four-hour narrative about a mother welcoming her son home from a rehabilitation center for Christmas, only to confront the dangerous echoes of his past.
November Screenings Feature C’mon C’mon and Un Eroe Piccolo Piccolo
Following the premiere, the Thursday evening series continues on November 5 with Mike Mills’s C’mon C’mon. The drama features Joaquin Phoenix as a radio producer who takes his nine-year-old nephew, played by Woody Norman, on a cross-country work trip, forging an unexpected and enduring bond while navigating family mental health challenges.
The lineup moves to November 12 with Marshall Herskovitz’s Un eroe piccolo piccolo (originally released as Jack the Bear). Set in 1972 California, the film stars Danny DeVito alongside young actors Robert Steinmiller and Miko Hughes as brothers adjusting to a difficult new reality with their television-personality father.
On November 19, viewers will see Alan Gilsenan’s Unless – A meno che, starring Catherine Keener as a writer grappling with her eldest daughter’s abrupt decision to abandon college and live on the streets holding a sign bearing the single word “Bontà” (Goodness).
The schedule progresses on November 26 with Alison Eastwood’s Rotaie e legami (Rails & Ties). Kevin Bacon and Marcia Gay Harden star as railroad workers whose lives collide with a young mother’s desperate, tragic act on the tracks, permanently intertwining the survivors of two separate families.
Marking Special Occasions and Human Vulnerability
December brings specific programming highlights starting on December 3, when Tv2000 broadcasts Sarah Winkenstette’s Saluti da Marte (Grüße vom Mars). Aired in recognition of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the film follows Tom, a ten-year-old boy who struggles with sudden changes and sensory overloads. When his mother leaves unexpectedly for China, Tom treats his mandatory six-week stay with his grandparents in the countryside as a simulated space mission to Mars, navigating a world that frequently overwhelms him.
The series continues on December 10 with Emmanuelle Bercot’s Peaceful (De son vivant). The drama stars Cécile de France, Catherine Deneuve, and Benoît Magimel in an intimate exploration of a son refusing to accept a terminal diagnosis, alongside a mother and medical staff trying to guide them through a year of acceptance and emotional reckoning.
The eight-part cinematic journey concludes on December 17 with Tony Bill’s Una casa tutta per noi (A Home of Our Own), starring Kathy Bates as a widowed mother moving her children to Idaho to transform an unfinished house into a permanent foundation for their future.
