Al-Marsad Newspaper: Dr. Abdullah Al-Faris, Pediatric Consultant and Head of the Endocrinology and Diabetes Unit at the Security Forces Hospital, explained the causes of diabetes.
He said during an interview with the “Sabah Al-Saudi” program: “Genetics play a role in developing type 2 diabetes, compared to type 1 diabetes, which affects young children.”
He continued, “But diet and a healthy diet, and exercise, will help to resist the disease.”
He added, “One of the signs of diabetes is high cholesterol in the blood, as well as obese people, if their weight suddenly and quickly decreases to the point of thinness, then this is evidence that they have diabetes.”
He pointed out that the affected person’s weight is constantly decreasing, which means that his sugar is high and irregular.
