The last weekend of the autumn holidays promises to be unstable with an area of ​​active rain which will reach Belgium on Saturday, according to the morning bulletin from the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM).

Early Saturday morning, the sky will be very cloudy, but the weather should remain dry. As the hours pass, however, an area of ​​active rain will reach the French border and move from the southwest to the northeast. In the afternoon, it will be more variable with clearings but also sometimes intense showers. A few thunderclaps are not excluded. The maximums will reach 7 degrees in the Hautes-Fagnes and 12 degrees in the west and center of the country. The wind will be moderate at first and then quite strong or sometimes strong from the south veering to the south-southwest. During the day, gusts will increase to values ​​of 60 to 80 km/h or even a little more in a heavy downpour. The IRM forecasts heavy rains in the south of the country overnight.

On Sunday, the country will remain under the influence of an unstable air mass. The weather will be very cloudy with showers. The clearings will remain quite shy during the day, but will widen from the French border at the very end of the afternoon while the tendency for showers will decrease somewhat. The maximums will be between 7 degrees in Hautes-Fagnes and 11 or 12 degrees in the plains. The west-southwest wind will remain quite strong inland and strong at sea with gusts of 60 or even 70 km/h locally.
