When President Tebboune passes the ointment to Guinea-Bissau

The President of Guinea Bissau, Sissoco Embalo, traveled to Algeria on Monday, where he was welcomed by President Abdelamajid Tebboune. A visit that comes a few days after the latter left the 8th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-8), in Tunis to protest against the participation of the Polisario delegation.

According to the Algerian press, this visit will last two days. President Embalo took part in all the ceremonial ceremonies reserved for foreign heads of state, including the visit to the Martyr’s Sanctuary in Algiers, and that of the National Mujahid Museum.

Sissoco Embalo was one of the toughest African leaders in their reaction to the intrusion of the separatist front at the TICAD Summit. The latter did not appreciate the fact that the presence of Brahim Ghali and his pseudo-delegation was imposed by Tunisia, host country of the Conference.

This gesture seems to stun the Algerian leaders who, no doubt, would be behind the hostile turn of the Tunisian president. The latter are eager to invite him officially to understand the reasons, which are however clear. Guinea-Bissau clearly and unequivocally supports the territorial integrity of Morocco. The country has opened a consulate in Dakhla, thus recognizing Morocco’s full sovereignty over its southern provinces.

The consulate, it should be remembered, was inaugurated on October 23, 2020, during a ceremony co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, and his counterpart from Bissau. -Guinean, Mrs. Suzi Carla Barbosa.
