Yesterday, Iraqi officials signed a huge deal with the German company “Siemens”, worth billions of dollars, to improve the Iraqi energy infrastructure, during the visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani to Berlin.
The deal with Siemens aims to build and expand power stations to produce 6 gigawatts of electricity, in addition to building power lines and carrying out maintenance operations.
Al-Sudani had affirmed, during his meeting with representatives of German companies at the beginning of his visit to Germany, on Thursday, Iraq’s confidence in German companies due to their expertise, high efficiency and international reputation.
In addition, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced in a joint press conference with Al-Sudani that his country is in talks with the Iraqi government on the possibility of importing natural gas from the oil-rich country.
On the other hand, the Iraqi political forces, especially the “Coordinating Framework Forces”, breathed a sigh of relief, after reciting the political sermon of unified prayer that was held yesterday at the invitation of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, in which he avoided engaging in political affairs directly, but forces opposed to « The framework, which now holds the reins of power, saw this unified prayer as an indication of al-Sadr’s return to the forefront of the political scene.
