An Arab movement in Jeddah precedes the Riyadh summit

Riyadh – Jeddah: «Asharq Al-Awsat»

The city of Jeddah is witnessing an Arab movement, about a month before the Arab Summit hosted by Riyadh, as Arab delegations arrived yesterday in the city; To participate in a consultative meeting between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq.

The Saudi “Al-Ikhbariya” broadcast footage of the meeting, in the presence of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, along with his Arab counterparts.

The Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister, Eng. Walid bin Abdul Karim Al-Khereiji, was receiving the Kingdom’s guests at the Royal Hall at King Abdulaziz International Airport. The receptions included Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al-Busaidi, Omani Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, Bahraini Foreign Minister, and Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the UAE. Sameh Shoukry, the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, the Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Fouad Muhammad Hussein, the Iraqi Foreign Minister.

The Jeddah meeting comes two days after Saudi Arabia received Faisal al-Miqdad, on the first visit by a Syrian foreign minister to the kingdom in years. A joint Saudi-Syrian statement stated that the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and his Syrian counterpart, discussed “efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis that preserves Syria’s unity, security, stability, Arab identity, and territorial integrity, in a way that achieves the good of its people.”
