In total, over a period of almost a year, almost €80,000 was stolen.

This is an audit requested following a change of management within the store which highlighted irregularities. Very quickly, suspicion fell on some of the staff members. A complaint was then filed with the Grace-Hollogne/Awans police and an investigation began. Several people were exonerated because they were not on the schedule on the days and times when the thefts were committed or they were geolocated in other locations. There was only one left: Michel! The latter initially denied the facts but last Tuesday, shortly after 9 a.m., he was arrested at his workplace by four police officers.

Search Wednesday

Following this deprivation of liberty, investigators from the Grace-Hollogne/Awans BLR carried out a search of Michel’s home. “That’s where they discovered a large sum of money which could correspond to the amount stolen from Brico,” confided the manager of Brico de Hognoul on Wednesday.

Michel could no longer deny the obvious. So he confessed. On Wednesday, he was acquitted by the investigating judge. However, he will not escape – even if the money has been found – an appearance before the Liège criminal court.
