• The missions that issued the appeal are: the “trilateral mechanism” embassies of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and the delegation of the European Union. In a joint statement, the diplomatic missions urged the parties to avoid further escalation and start talks to resolve outstanding issues.

• The tripartite mechanism emphasized the need for an immediate and permanent cessation of hostilities to spare innocent civilians in Sudan any further acts of violence.

A broken truce

• On Tuesday evening, a truce was announced between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, with international mediation, but it quickly collapsed due to the exchange of bullets and shells.
• On the fifth day of the clashes, that is, today, Wednesday, continuous gunfire, artillery shells, and air strikes rocked the capital, Khartoum, and the city of Omdurman.
• A number of residents of the capital reported clashes around the army headquarters and areas adjacent to Khartoum airport.
