Many Belgians do their shopping in France, and the French are well aware of this.
In a report carried out by TF1, we can see that the Carrefour store in Condé-sur-l’Escaut, in the north of France, has taken a new and surprising initiative: promotions intended… only for Belgians!
Located near the border, the store wants to attract Belgians by allowing them to obtain discounts when checking out. These promotions are carried out one day a week and allow you to earn three euros for every 60 euros of purchase.
“Belgian Thursday is our biggest day of the week. It’s almost between 25 and 28% of the week’s turnover, it’s huge,” explains Cyril Alips, manager of the Carrefour store in question.
To benefit from the promotions, you simply have to show your Belgian identity card at the checkout. Fortunately for the French, the same day is reserved for them every Tuesday.
