Twenty-two years in Spain go a long way, and if not, tell the yoga expert Xuan Lan, who remembers coming to our country and seeing Yoga almost nowhere: «I started yoga in the US and wanted to continue learning, but when I arrived on the peninsula I spent almost two years without practicing it because I couldn’t find schools ».
Fortunately, the Yoga in Spain has been growing exponentially and Xuan Lan has had a lot to do with this increase in ‘yogis’… “It has been growing because people are increasingly concerned about their stress, their bodies and self-care in general,” he says, and He alludes to the Covid pandemic, which, although it was very hard, has also improved some things: «The pandemic has helped us a lot to realize that one can care from home in an easy and accessible way.
With my means, through social networks, I was doing many free online classes and I made Yoga reach even more people. It must be remembered that the expert has a very powerful YouTube channel and there are many centers that have been opened as a result of her success. Now it is normal to join a Yoga center and take care of yourself », she says.
Not a passing trend
How many times has an activity gone viral and, over the months, has its fame faded? That has not happened with Yoga… «When they ask me if Yoga is a fad, for me it is not. In fifteen years it has been growing non-stop, the pandemic gave it a boom but it has not gone down again. Everyone has made bread during the confinement and now hardly anyone makes bread at home, but instead people continue to do yoga », he indicates with a laugh. According to Xuan Lan, those who have discovered that they can do yoga online “without having to cross the city to go to its center, is a way to say: ‘I have no excuse to take care of myself. I always try to help anyone, with little or a lot of time, find their perfect class”.
Although the online has made a wide gap in front of the face-to-face, years ago it was unthinkable to believe that doing sports watching a screen would help you improve your physique. Classes have always been face-to-face and nowadays training at home, in a deferred way, is not only possible, but also what is chosen by millions of people. Xuan Lan has a platform with 15 offline and online certified teachers, she has taught thousands of hours of Yoga and has seen thousands of bodies, so she has “an experience of how to explain things”.
«If we feel more comfortable in a class, go ahead. But most of the time they are classes of 20 people, with four rows, so the teacher doesn’t see you either if you’re behind. Do not think that having a teacher with the mat in front of him can take care of you if you are in the background. Going to a Yoga class is very good and is very motivational, but practicing Yoga needs perseverance, regularity and if you only do it from time to time you go to a center it is not very useful, “says the expert.
Constancy
Remaining related to Yoga can be an easy task for many but an ordeal for others. Where lies the secret to addicting yourself to an activity and not abandoning it at the first opportunity? For Xuan Lan, it is in the quality of the teacher: «On my platform I cast teachers to find out how they speak to the camera, how they explain, and this is the key for people to develop body awareness. The responsibility should not be left to the teacher; the person has to work on his ego because sometimes we want to do things that don’t correspond to us, like working on the body awareness and not copy an asana, but experience it.
At home there is less embarrassment and in class you usually see people with a high level and that sometimes creates a lot of frustration. «At home if the chicha comes out nothing happens and if you like that class you can do it 10 times and come back and feel that one leg can go up much more. Also, flexible hours are the biggest benefit.”
As Xuan Lan points out, you have to be hooked by the teacher or the teacher as well as their voice: «You have to connect with teachers And my community has been growing because many people have connected with me and with my classes. Of course, if you are going to do Yoga, you have to do an introspection work and see if you feel better, if you sleep better, if you have more energy… «For me, well-being is a positive drug. You get hooked on the feeling of well-being. If you feel good, you will start with 25 minutes, then you will do 30 minutes of class and each time it will increase. If you don’t listen to your body, you may not realize what it needs.

Xuan y Born they share many values; the DNA of both is Yoga. In addition, this collaboration has an emotional component for us, since Xuan and I met when Born was only two months old and everything was yet to be done”, comments the creator.
