Four Die in Bangka Tengah Honda Brio and Fuso Truck Collision

A Saturday afternoon journey along the asphalt of Bangka Tengah turned into a tragedy on October 24, 2026, when a crimson Honda Brio collided with a Fuso truck in the village of Jelutung, killing all four occupants inside the passenger car. The crash, which occurred at approximately 12:50 PM in the Namang subdistrict of Bangka Belitung, involved a family of four—a husband, a wife, and their two children—leaving investigators to piece together the moments of the lane departure.

The Fatal Geometry of Route Namang

The wreckage unfolded when the red Honda Brio, bearing license plate BN 1945 BL, veered across the centerline while traveling from Pangkalpinang toward Koba. According to field details confirmed by Kompas, the vehicle crossed into the path of an oncoming green Fuso Hino truck, registered as BN 8720 PD, driven in the opposite direction. The force of the impact drove the Brio beneath the larger vehicle, crushing its front end and trapping the passengers within the mangled vehicle.

Emergency responders arriving at the scene faced an extraction process. The position of the passenger car, wedged deeply into the undercarriage of the heavy truck, required coordination from local law enforcement and rescue teams. The four victims were reported dead at the location.

A Family Lost in Academic and Professional Circles

As local authorities began processing the identities of the deceased, Babelpos identified the female adult victim as Erika Fitri Wardhani, a lecturer in the Primary School Teacher Education study program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung. She perished alongside her husband—noted by Kompas to be a project consultant—and their two children, who were enrolled in primary and kindergarten levels.

Kombes Agus Sugiyarso, the Head of Public Relations for the Bangka Belitung Regional Police, detailed the immediate aftermath to detikNews, confirming that the victims formed a single nuclear family. “Yes, it is true, as a result of the accident, the driver of the Brio and its passengers died, totaling four people. The identity of the victims is a single biological family consisting of a father, mother, and two children,” Sugiyarso stated.

Ongoing Investigations and Legal Processing

Investigators from the Bangka Tengah Traffic Unit secured the crash site along Jalan Raya Desa Jelutung to conduct an accident reconstruction. Both vehicles involved in the collision have been secured by the police as evidence, while the driver of the truck was taken to the local police station to undergo questioning.
