Global outage makes tweets disappear

Once again, the social network of the blue bird has been affected by a global outage, it is a bug in the display of tweets, which appeared from Friday, June 2. When viewing a profile, Twitter may display a message saying that the account “has not tweeted”. As if the user in question had never published the slightest tweet.

In this sense, the Downdetector site posted a peak of alerts concerning Twitter from 3:30 p.m. in many countries, such as the United States, Japan or France. Downdetector is a platform that lists bug reports on many sites.

And since this is an eminently visual issue, users can click on the other Replies or Media tabs, and the tweets will reappear right away. The problem can also sometimes be solved by reloading the web page.

In fact, Twitter has a very rich history of bugs, the latest being the reappearance of deleted tweets; several Internet users were surprised to see old tweets that they had deleted suddenly reappear on their profile. This bug on the social network has also aroused the indignation of the latter who have not failed to express their concern.

Another technical breakdown came to spoil the party at Twitter in February, when the platform celebrated the launch of “long messages”, which can be up to 4,000 characters. Thus, the Downdetector site has identified more than 45,000 incident reports. Thousands of users said they couldn’t tweet or message.

These repeated bugs are linked to the lack of resources and staff assigned to security and moderation within the social network since the arrival of Elon Musk. As a reminder, the latter has indeed laid off 90% of the workforce since the end of 2022, in addition to the deployment of several updates which did not please the users of the platform.
