A new home for Prince William and Kate Middleton? The pair are reportedly finalizing surprise plans to turn a secret home into a sanctuary of sorts, as part of their recovery process after their cancer diagnosis. The royal couple, reports the Daily Mirror, are considering the possibility of renovating and expanding a little-known red brick annex adjacent to the Adelaide Cottage residence in Windsor. The family, who moved to the Berkshire estate in late summer 2022, currently divide their time between the four-bedroom cottage and their beloved retreat at Anmer Hall on the Sandringham estate. Although Adelaide Cottage offers an ideal location due to its proximity to Lambrook School, attended by George, Charlotte and Louis, insiders suggest the family are considering extending a currently vacant annexe to help the princess recover from his physical ailments.

But there are some difficulties, especially of an economic nature. Some sources explain that the Prince of Wales is “aware of the public scrutiny” over royal spending and is taking a cautious approach to personally funding the costs. “William and Kate love Adelaide Cottage, but it is barely big enough for the whole family, whereas Anmer Hall is much larger and has extensive grounds. Adelaide Cottage is used as a summer property while the children attend school nearby, while Anmer Hall is used for long weekends and holidays,” the blurb.

And here is another source: ”No one knows that next to Adelaide Cottage there is a spacious red brick building that is not used. It is currently unusable and would need extensive renovation work to be used. There has been discussion about using the property as part of the cottage park for some time, but it’s just a matter of finding the right time to kick off the project.” The need for more space is not just a whim for luxury: sources they say it is vital to Kate’s wellbeing journey, and she needs to have a peaceful environment to manage the demands of the treatment. The two Princes of Wales are considering paying for the renovations themselves.
