Where are vouchers sold?

What is important to know: this does not cancel regular, “non-voucher” taxis.

“In addition to the usual payment in accordance with the time and distance tariffs set by each taxi carrier, passengers will now be able to purchase vouchers for taxi travel from the airport to the city center and Pardaugava,” — indicate airport representatives.

In particular, they can be purchased at the Riga Airport Visitor Center – on the 1st floor of the airport terminal in Arrivals Hall E.

The vouchers will allow passengers and airport guests to choose taxi rides at a predetermined price, regardless of travel time and number of kilometers traveled within the voucher’s coverage area. These vouchers can be used by passengers in taxis of carriers that have received special license cards to operate on the airport premises – these taxis are located on the first line at the exits of the arrival terminal.

Vouchers cannot be used on vehicles of other brands or carriers.

How it should work

The passenger must present the voucher to the taxi driver before the trip, who will validate it and verify its validity. The voucher is valid for one trip from the airport to a destination in the center of Riga or Pardaugava in the voucher validity area.

If the final destination of the trip is outside the territory in which the voucher is valid, the passenger pays for the trip as usual.

The map of the voucher coverage area approximately includes the area between Kr. Valdemara, Skanstes, Lachplesa and Valmieras to st. Tallinas in the center of Riga, as well as the area from Ave. Karlis Ulmanis to Kurzemes Avenue in Pardaugava.

Please note that the distance from the airport to the Riga microdistricts Imanta and Zolitude does not exceed 3 km. Thus, the tariff for a taxi trip using a voucher will cost the passenger more than 10 euros per 1 km. Prices are quite at the level of the current “bombs” that the Riga City Council is fighting against.

The validity of the purchased voucher is three months from the date of purchase. Partial or multiple use of the voucher is not possible.

In the future, vouchers will also be available for purchase on the airport’s e-commerce platform.
