The cast of “The Pitt” is currently back on location in Pittsburgh filming season 3, giving fans an early glimpse at character transformations and upcoming storylines, WTAE reported on Monday.
What to Know About Season 3
- Production is currently shooting local scenes in Pittsburgh—including a set under the 9th Street Bridge—before the cast relocates to California to complete filming. Season 3 is scheduled to air in January of next year.
Production for the third season of “The Pitt” brought the cast back to Pittsburgh for local shoots. Speaking at a news conference on Monday, series star Noah Wyle detailed how his character navigates the fallout of past seasons. Wyle explained that Dr. Robby makes his ascension out of the proverbial pit by taking a sabbatical and returning to get the help everyone told him to seek. Fans can expect a slightly more aspirational iteration of the character than previously seen on screen.
Character Strains for Nurse Dana and Dr. Mel
Other members of the ensemble cast outlined similarly complex arcs for their respective characters. Katherine LaNasa, who portrays Nurse Dana, stated that her character is handling a heavy workload and dealing with significant frustration. Meanwhile, Taylor Dearden’s character, Dr. Mel, continues to grapple with the aftermath of a deposition. Dearden noted that Mel feels down on herself throughout the season.
Reunions and Local Pittsburgh Production Sets
Not every character faces ongoing turmoil, as actor Patrick Ball indicated that Dr. Langdon is doing great. The upcoming episodes will also feature a key on-screen reunion in the emergency room between Dr. Robby and Dr. Langdon after the two characters spent much of the previous season at a distance from one another. Production crews constructed a homeless camp set underneath Pittsburgh’s 9th Street Bridge for the local shoot. While Wyle noted the design aims to focus on local and relatable elements, specific details regarding the narrative context of the scene remain unclear. Following the completion of local sequences, the production will return to California to finish filming on their set there ahead of the January premiere.
