After warning that massacres like the one that happened last weekend in Michoacán show that Mexico has a failed state and government, the PAN legislators, in a press conference, described as unheard of that the authorities intend to minimize the violent events that the country experiences daily.
“We demand that the government guarantee the peace of Mexicans, that it change the security strategy and send it back to the Senate of the Republic to approve it, debate it among all and find a solution, but already president, they voted for him to guarantee the peace, not to walk in a popularity contest and to go around making excuses. We need results now!” said Senator Damián Zepeda.
He accused that the government minimizes the facts and normalizes the violence, when the data indicates that every six days a multi-homicide occurs in the country. “Then a scandal covers another scandal. A few weeks ago it was Caborca, Sonora, before it was the university students in Zacatecas, before they were killed hanging from bridges with narcomantas, before it was in Veracruz, burned businesses, extortions, kidnappings. It is everywhere and It’s out of control,” he stressed.
For his part, the coordinator of the Blue and White caucus in the Senate, Julen Rementería, affirmed that what happened in Michoacán is inconceivable.
“The President of the Republic has boasted on many occasions that he knows everything that is happening, that he is informed, that the President of the Republic knows what is happening. Coincidentally, they do not know anything about San José de Gracia, because they intend to insist that they have not found bodies.”
He pointed out that were it not for the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the massacre in Michoacán would be a world note.
“The truth is that the president said a few days ago that he can’t take it anymore, and we see that, that he can’t take it anymore. In terms of security, this is a failed government that has to be recognized like this and start from scratch, ”he warned.
During the press conference, the PAN senators showed signs with the legend “Failed State. Mexico in mourning”.
