Patras: Tzimis Politis and women’s confessions at Epikentro+ – 2024-04-06 09:51:34

Really, what do women say in front of their mirrors? Faced with the certainty of facing only themselves and away from prying ears? What are their concerns and what truths do they dare to admit?

This and much more is dealt with in the (wine) witty comedy “Women in the Mirror” directed by Jimi Politis, who has also selected the texts. After all, it is something he has done in the past, in the form of a theatrical performance, and today he is bringing it back in a special 45-minute format at the Epikentro+ bar.

Making a new selection from the already existing texts and adding three more, Tzimis Politis places his two protagonists in front of a mirror to talk regarding what concerns them. And what are these? “They talk regarding life, relationships, their weight, the scale and much more” he tells us characteristically, speaking to pelop.gr.

The performance begins with a surprise male introduction, which, as Tzimis Politis tells us, has something to do with television.

When we ask him regarding the show, he characteristically notes: “It is a show that also offers food for thought, a (wine) witty comedy as we call it” while referring to its two protagonists he adds: “The Happy Bileli comes from the theater group of Vassilis Kokkalis who took classes at Epikentro+. With the Nancy Konstantinidis we know each other from Refene and later we met at Hypocrites and I waited with great patience for him to… untangle himself with the children. She was ready and so the theatrical meeting took place. I was very happy that we met once more”.

THE TALENTS ARISING FROM THE PATRINO CARNIVAL

At the beginning of the show, in the introduction we find him Panagiotis Tomarasa man who together with her Nancy Konstantinidis they come from the Patrinos Carnival. After all, as is well known, many art professionals were “born” in the Patrinos Carnival.

The Carnival gave the trigger to many to understand that they love the arts, painting, photography, theater and maybe they wouldn’t have shown their talent without it” Tzimis Politis tells us and continues: “Through the pantomimes of the Carnival, I understood that something was wrong with it and I moved on. And we have many examples: Miltos Nikas, Panagiotis Fafoutis, Thanos Tseris, Paris Laliotis, Vassilis Papaioannou”.

HOW A MAN APPROACHES WOMEN

How can a man approach the psyche of women and what does he choose to show? “During my career as a bartender and as an administrator in a women’s handball team, I had many women around me,” emphasizes Tzimis Politis and adds: “I touch on the real problem through how women express it. We all know the answer to the question “what do you have?”. The answer is “nothing”. Women when everything happens to them say “nothing” because they hide their problems until the moment they are alone with their mirror or an invisible viewer to tell them regarding them.

And finally, what is left with the audience following the show? How do they get out of the theater? A question we ask Tzimis Politis, given that this is a project that has occupied him in the past. “I see people happy, bright and friendly who tell you that something they saw really happened. Indeed, the texts are very realistic. It is a case where theater does not copy life, but life copies theater“.
