There are less than two weeks left for the president-elect, Gustavo Petro, to take office as the new president of Colombians. Just before his inauguration event, the president-elect gave a brief speech at the Externado University, where he was honored as a graduate.
At the event, Petro stressed that he feels almost the same fear that the students feel, he feels it before beginning his presidential term. “Now many and many of you will be scared and scared to enter a university, I am also scared to enter the Presidency of the Republic.”
In the brief speech he gave when visiting his alma mater, the leader spoke about issues such as oil, tourism and his government plan.
Regarding oil, he stated that it is possible to replace all or half of it with tourism. He said that the US $ 40,000 million of this activity can be achieved with the entry of some 20 million tourists to the country, which, he assures, is to multiply by four the number of foreigners who enter.
However, he said that this is not something that can be achieved “overnight, multiplying these tourists. That implies peace, our beauty, culture, it implies infrastructure and policy change.”
In his speech, he also spoke about the market, which he stated that if it is allowed to act freely, “society is extinguished.” He affirmed that it is about the collapse of a paradigm that society is experiencing. “It is not simply a theoretical discussion. It is a gulf between theory and reality for humanity,” he said.
He told the university community that his mission in the Presidency will be practical, while the academy would be dedicated to seeing his management from the academy.
