Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will travel to Fiji and Tuvalu from October 5 to 7, 2026, to co-host the Pre-COP Leaders’ Event, positioning Pacific climate priorities ahead of COP31. Australia Commits to Delivering a Pacific-Hosted Pre-COP
Following outcomes secured at COP30 where Australia locked in the role of COP31 President of Negotiations, the federal government committed to delivering a Pacific-hosted Pre-COP. According to official government schedules, the upcoming trip marks the Prime Minister’s fourth official visit to Fiji and his first official visit to Tuvalu.
The Pacific Pre-COP brings together more than 50 countries alongside thousands of decision-makers, experts, and advocates. The multi-day forum aims to accelerate the clean energy transition and concrete actions to reduce global emissions before negotiations head to Antalya, Türkiye, in November 2026.
