Putin’s angry speech is a historic turning point for Europe

So that was her. The speech with which Vladimir Putin tried to justify everything that has brought Europe to the brink of war and that could still threaten the continent already soaked in the blood of two world wars.

It was an angry speech, full of contempt for the West, full of hurt pride in Russia’s past greatness, full of blatant threats to take back what Putin believes Russia is historically entitled to. So much had accumulated, now it had to get out. One could read the anger on Putin’s face at the alleged injustice. Even Lenin got his fat off for not holding historical Russia together.

Historical turning points, which divide the flow of history into a before and an after, can usually only be recognized in the rear-view mirror. However, there is much to suggest that such a turning point took place on Monday evening.
