The world of entertainment is in mourning after confirming the death of Burt Young, one of the iconic actors of the ‘Rocky’ film saga and who accompanied Sylvester Stallone throughout production.
The news was confirmed by his daughter Morea Steingieser, who in statements to The New York Times said that the actor had died on October 8 and did not reveal details of his death.

“Burt was an actor of tremendous emotional range. He could make you cry and scare you to death,” summarized Bensky, in the statement in which he confirmed his death and which was published by People.
Burt Young was an Oscar-nominated actor for his portrayal of Paulie, Rocky Valdes’ best friend, assistant, and brother-in-law. After finishing the saga he had roles in ‘Chinatown’, ‘Once Upon a Time in America’ and ‘The Sopranos’.

‘Paulie’s first appearance was in ‘Rocky’ in 1976, he was a foul-mouthed meat packer who shared an apartment with his sister Adrian in Philadelphia. Burt Young’s character offers his sister a night of action and a date with his friend Rocky Balboa, but she refuses.
‘Rocky’ was nominated for 10 Oscars, including best supporting actor for Young. It won three, including best picture. The young and co-star Burgess Meredith, who was also nominated.

After the end of the saga Burt Young gave a farewell message: “It was a great journey and brought me closer to the audience in a great way,” Young said in a 2020 interview with Celebrity Parents magazine.
