Seven unannounced racer names have surfaced in a datamine of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Version 2.0.0 files — including Cloud Strife and Tifa Lockhart, whose entries sit in files tied to a Final Fantasy VII Remake DLC.
The datamine shared by VocaloidMikuBr points to these potential Year Two additions:
- Cloud Strife and Tifa Lockhart — entries in the files for the Final Fantasy VII Remake DLC.
- Movie Sonic
- Will, from Metaphor: ReFantazio.
- Sakura Shinguji, from Sakura Wars.
SEGA rolled out the 2.0.0 update on November 3, opening Year Two of the kart racer with Duel Mode, the Super Slot gadget slot and Bayonetta as the first free character of the new season. The game itself launched September 25, 2025, and dataminers moved quickly on the new files.
None of the Leaked Racers Are Confirmed
Nintendoeverything cautions that nothing has been announced and the leak is not a full reveal of SEGA’s plans, so each name on the list remains unconfirmed just yet.
The game is available on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch.
What Version 2.0.0 actually brought
The Year Two update, designated Version 2.0.0, is live across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Players must install it to access online modes and downloadable content.

The patch introduces Duel Mode, which pits two racers against each other in one-on-one showdowns both offline and online, complete with a Duel Boost gauge that fills as time passes and items are used. Ahead of the November 3 rollout, Sonic Global Community Director Aaron Webber outlined that the update would include new additions, changes, and improvements.
Among the mechanical additions is the Super Slot, a seventh slot on the Gadget Plate available once players reach Grand Master Plate or higher. A gadget placed there receives enhanced effects, and the update adds 15 new gadgets that become available at that rank.
The World Match menu has also been overhauled to display Legend Competition, Ranked Match, and Free Match as distinct options, while festivals have been extended from three days to ten days. The update also adds a Shop, Play Missions, and an expanded World Match experience, plus a login campaign featuring weekly “I ♡” Sonic character decals.
Unlocking Bayonetta via Rival Duels
Bayonetta joins the roster as the first free character of Year Two and can be unlocked through Rival Duel matches against CPU opponents. She will be followed by McLaren Racing (Sonic) later in November and Aigis from Persona in early 2027.

The first paid Year Two downloadable content is the Godzilla Pack, which launches November 5 across all platforms including Steam and the Epic Games Store. It includes the collaboration course Godzilla Escape, three machines — the Power-type Godzilla Cruiser and King Ghidorah Coupe, plus the Boost-type Mothra Surf — and 25 collaboration decals for machine customization.
The Godzilla Pack Began as an April Fool’s Joke
The development team revealed that the pack originated as an April Fool’s joke and incorporated recognizable colors, shapes, and button layouts to preserve each console’s identity, including a recreation of the Dreamcast’s Visual Memory Unit using original reference material from the era.

Six DLC Packs and Eight Free Updates Planned for Year Two
SEGA has confirmed plans for six premium DLC packs and eight free updates throughout the game’s second year. The original game was developed by Sonic Team and published by SEGA, receiving generally favorable reviews on Metacritic with a 4.57 average rating on the PlayStation Store based on over 10,000 reviews as of the update’s release. Year One concluded with the Avatar Legends pack, which added Aang and Katara racing across the Lion Turtle Island track.
