What the police feared sadly happened this Sunday at Babbs Mill Park in Kingshurst. A small group of people found nothing better than walking on the frozen lake. Seeing them do it, others decided to venture there. Under the weight of the crowd, the ice cracked.
Several people then fell into the freezing water. Firefighters and divers moved in number on the spot. Victims were taken in critical condition to nearby hospitals.
Our English colleagues report that the emergency services cannot say how many people have fallen into the water or if there are still missing.
