Perenco fire: the toll rises (5 dead + 1 missing) –

The death toll from the fire which broke out on Wednesday on the oil platform of the Perenco company off the coast of Gabon has increased (5 dead + 1 missing).

« We deeply regret to announce the death of five people. Despite search efforts overnight, one person remains missing », Announces Perenco in a press release. There is also an injured person being treated. The Becuna platform off the coast of Gabon, victim of the fire, has been evacuated.

« Emergency teams continue to be deployed on site to continue the search », specifies Perenco who addresses his “ thoughts to the bereaved families to whom we provide all our support ».

The incident occurred on March 20, 2024 around 3:25 p.m. (Gabon time, 2:25 p.m. UT).
