the young woman did not survive

Gemma Harries, a 31-year-old woman, was the victim of an accident that seemed trivial, but which ended up costing her life. The young woman dislocated her knee during a bachelorette party last November and was treated at Yeovil Hospital. A few months later, while at her boyfriend Joseff Edwards’ house, she suffered a heart attack and died.

After injuring herself at the bachelorette party, Gemma was taken to hospital. But when she returned home, her knee was still very swollen, despite new treatments. What she didn’t know was that she was actually suffering from pulmonary thromboembolism and deep vein thrombosis. “You don’t really think it can happen because of a dislocated knee, but it did,” Gemma’s boyfriend told WalesOnline.

A few months later, while she was at Joseff’s and they were about to move in together, Gemma collapsed, suffering a heart attack. Despite the rapid intervention of the emergency services, the young woman lost her life.

“We know what to look out for when it comes to a heart attack or stroke. People would really know what to look for, but a blood clot, I think is totally different,” adds Gemma’s companion.

A week before she died, Gemma had booked a surprise trip to Rome for her and Joseff. “She booked this probably a week before she died. She thought we would both go and I didn’t know until afterwards, ”sadly laments the young man, who will now have to learn to live without Gemma. “She was lovely. You can’t really describe her in words because the first time you met her, you felt like you had known her for a very long time. She was just really simple and down to earth. She would help anyone, ”says Joseff again.

Gemma’s boyfriend decided to raise money for Wales Air Ambulance, who rushed to save his partner’s life. “I just think it’s something she wants me to do.” I think it can be something good in a horrible situation. I think she would be proud of it,” concludes Joseff.
