17-year-old injured, several suspects wanted

A 17-year-old man from Delft, the Netherlands, was injured on Tuesday afternoon in a shooting at a school in the town of Zoetermeer.

He was able to reach a hospital on his own and received emergency treatment there, police said on Tuesday. No suspects have yet been arrested.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. in a parking lot near the school. It is not yet known whether the injured person is a student attending the nearby school. “Witnesses said that immediately after the incident, several boys fled,” a police spokesperson told our colleagues from Het Laatste Nieuws. “They were dressed in black.” The injured young man went himself to the hospital, where he was taken care of.

Police said earlier they were looking for “several suspects” and launched a “thorough” investigation into the shooting. A police helicopter was deployed for the search.
